📋 Game Day Prep & Arrival

✅ Before Game Day

  • Double check that schedule is accurate and nothing has changed (utilize SSSL.org for last-minute changes)
  • Print out 2 color copies of your current roster (Obtain 2 signed color copies of any other rosters when borrowing players, must be signed by coach of that team)
  • Pack your coaching credentials
  • Remind players to wear appropriate jersey, socks, shin guards, cleats. Players may be prohibited from playing if not dressed appropriately

🚗 Arrival Checklist

  • Arrive 30 minutes early to set up, greet families, and warm up the team
  • Bring cones, pinnies, ball pump, and game balls
  • Walk the field: Check field safety and goal anchoring
  • Assign starting positions
  • Confirm player readiness and jersey colors: official will check all players in
  • Confirm enough players are present to begin the game.  Teams can play short by 2 without forfeiting.

🤝 Pre-Game Sportsmanship Procedure

  • After all pre-game activities are complete, both teams and the referee crew line up at the Halfway Line on the Coaches Sideline
  • Led by officials, all players and coaches walk across the field and line up facing spectators, 5 yards from the sideline
  • A representative of the Home team reads the Sportsmanship Statement aloud to coaches, players, and spectators (can be located next to your credentials)
  • Players perform a pre-game handshake — Home team walks down the line of Away team
  • After the handshake, players and coaches return to benches and starting players take the field
